This post isn't about one Jack in the box commercial. It's about ALL of them. Luckily, for half of the country they don't know what I'm talking about. This place advertises with the amount of same bad taste as their food, so at least some of it is relevant. Ever since I moved to the west coast, I've seen these commercials with everything from sexual harassment to druggies selling their god awful food. The creepy clown head always has some smug / sarcastic tone to his voice. I don't know who's in charge of their advertisement department, but they clearly see "bad taste" as a successful marketing strategy their product. Which is extremely ironic.

Take it from someone who worked there once upon a time…the commercials' bad taste is dwarfed by the GAWDAWFUL taste of their food. Only a lifelong pothead could love a Jack-In-The-Box taco!!
I don't know if it still is, but at that time Jack (as we fondly called it) was owned by Ralston Purina.
'nuff said…

^ You're right, Cat Fud. I know JITB started in beautiful San Diego by Peterson, but read up on the interesting history on Wikipedia to verify the Purina Ralston connection. Food for thought about those tacos!
I'm so old I remember the clown being blown up controversy. JITB has a long commercial ads history with many campaigns, some hits and some misses. The blatant pandering to the pothead crowd is funny, in a strange, getting away with it kind of way.
It's also been referred to as Jack in the Crack.

I still like a Jumbo Jack once in a long while. I once received 2 "tacos" by mistake. I don't know how they can keep something that bad on the menu. I could smell the soy filler (dog food). I have no idea what they taste like. I like some of their ads.

Hi, DarkRealmStar…I'm that old, too! I worked there in 1975-76, my last couple of years in high school. That was back when we meltedbig blocks of lard for the fryers. I can remember riding my bike home from work in my uniform and hearing "Jack In The Crack"! But I was pretty durned proud of the $2.65 an hour that I earned!
But the people who went through the drive-thru at 2 a.m.! The pot fumes emitting from the open windows, guys "spanking the monkey", you name it, I saw it. Quite an education for a teenager!
